How to Make + Use Moon Water

Moon Water

Every moon phase has a special meaning. The new moon is about setting new intentions, the first quarter moon is about relationships and fertility, and so on. Last night was a full moon, which is all about releasing. To be more specific it was a full moon in Pisces, which relates to water, emotions, intuition, and psychic abilities.

Being one of the most powerful and magical moons of the year, I decided to practice some rituals and I shared a few of them on my Instagram (@speyeralbeauty). This led to a ton of inquiries, with most people being fascinated as to how I make my moon water, so I put together this post where I “spill” my secrets!

I love making moon water during a full moon because it holds so much power, energy, and beauty. To keep it very simple, this practice uses drinking water that is charged with the moon's light. If you want to get a little more hardcore and learn about my ritual, here is what I like to do! Please have fun with this and choose to do whatever aspects resonate with you.

Make Moon Water

  1. Choose Your Intention

As long as you have the intention behind it, you can make moon water with pretty near any phase of the moon. That being said, if you want to get a little more specific, do some research on the unique meanings of each moon phase. I like to make mine during a full moon as I find it holds super powerful energy.

  1. Choose Your Water and Container

Decide on the water and container you would like to use. I like to fill a mason jar with clean drinking water (spring water is best but filtered tap water will also make do). Mason jars are perfect because they are glass, clear, and you can seal the top easily with a lid. Again, your intention is everything, so a lid isn’t necessary but I like to conceal in as much of the moon’s energy as possible and it is also good practice to keep things sanitary. If you don’t have a mason jar, a makeshift clear glass with something to conceal the top will do (plastic wrap with a rubber band, sustainable beeswax cloth wrapping, get creative with it). You can get as fancy or as practical as you like with it.

  1. Choose Appropriate Surroundings

Ideally, placing the filled container outside overnight under direct moonlight is ideal for the best absorption. I understand that this might not be a realistic option for everyone (ie. if you live in an apartment building with no balcony, or a cold climate) so the next best option is to set the water on a windowsill (ideally with the window open during summer, closed if during a cold winter). Listen to your intuition and do whatever is best at the given time.

Since I like to make my moon water during the full moon, I also surround my water with the crystals I am going to be charging that night for extra charging. For even more power, you can optionally add a cleaned clear quartz crystal to your water (I typically don’t bother with this as I find the full moon water is more than powerful enough). Let your moon water bask overnight and retrieve your charged moon water in the morning (ideally, before sunlight touches it). Store it in a cool, dark place (I like the fridge) and use it however you see fit (see examples below).
